VoIP phones for business

The UK’s traditional public switched telephone network is due to be retired in January 2027. Move to internet-based calling without losing the business number your customers know.

What is VoIP?

Voice over Internet Protocol carries calls over an internet connection rather than a traditional analogue line. A suitable service can offer clear audio, flexible call handling and lower costs, particularly for organisations with several users or locations.

When should I switch?

Openreach says the traditional public switched telephone network is due to retire in January 2027. Providers are already migrating customers, so it is sensible to plan before an urgent deadline or contract renewal. Alarms, payment terminals, lifts and other equipment that may use a phone line should be checked separately.

Keep your existing number

In many cases an existing landline number can be transferred to the new provider. Number porting needs to be planned carefully because cancelling the old service too early can risk losing the number.

Modern phones and clearer calls

Cordless Gigaset handsets and desk phones can work with a VoIP service, giving staff mobility without being tied to an old wall socket. Call quality depends on the broadband connection and network configuration, which we check as part of the setup.
